Sometimes, very rarely, you stumble upon something like this: a box no one has opened for a very long time. Approximately a century for that one.
Quietly, these window and door knobs produced around 1880 for one of Napoleon III’s castle were lying there.
The paper they’re wrapped with isn’t that old. Combine with the amount of dust on the box and the historical context surrounding the place the box was stocked in, there’s a good chance that no one looked at them since 1915.
Even though we are lucky enough to work with unique pieces regularly, this kind of discovery still gives us a sweet shiver. Opening one of those boxes always makes your heart go just a little bit faster.
